Angela Gossow had three younger siblings. She her birthplace was Cologne. When she was 17, her parents divorced. Their business went bankrupt, which added to her financial woes. The financial problems of her family were made more difficult by her anorexia and bulimia. Gossow stated that there is an appropriate time and location to take everything into consideration with regards to her decision of stepping down from the band ARCH ENEMY. She is its lead artist.
